That's one BIG nutshell

How long does it take an old lady to recover from an international flight with 2 cats, an overnight road trip ,a stay-cation with the girlfriends, a yard sale and the unpacking & finding of necessities?

Apparently, it takes about two months.

Yes, I’m still alive ya’ll. Let me see, how can I get caught up on all that time in one post?

Bullets! Yeah, bullets.

• The flight: The flight was actually the best I’ve had in years. O’Reilly flew in the cabin with me, poor Cavuto was too big so he had to fly in cargo. O’reilly was quiet as a mouse .The food was edible and I had 2 seats all to my self! It doesn’t get any better than that. The only bad part was getting through the million person long line at customs’. By the time I got through there and made it to the baggage claim, they had just dumped Cavutos crate by the carousel and he was all alone, screaming his head off.

The visit and the road trip:

My youngest son and his wife picked us up at O’Hare .We headed to their home where they have 2 huge dogs a cat and 2 ferrets. Once my cats were locked into the guest room, they stayed surprisingly calm during our 4 or 5 days there, in spite of knowing all those animals were also in the house.

We had some hilarious times watching many episodes of Raising Hope, we ate way too much restaurant food and plans went awry. Naturally. The plan was for my son and his brother in law to drive us home on Sunday, which happened to be Mothers day. We went to get the rental car and they would not let my son put it in his name. Leaving no choice but to put it in MY name. Ack!

Then we were supposed to meet up and dine with my daughter in laws Mom and siblings before we hit the road. Well, after waiting for various people to show up, and a leisurely dinner at Chilis, it was 9:30 P.M. before we began our 12 hour drive. To say that I was a nervous wreck would be an understatement. Luckily, the boys drove pretty well, managed to stay awake all night and everything was fine. They stayed one night here and then drove back .So far ,I haven’t heard any bad news from the car rental place :)

*The home coming: The cats were thrilled to see their home. I, however, as I gazed about an endless sea of packed and stacked boxes, was not so thrilled. Overwhelmed was more like it.

Before I had left for Denmark I had packed up the entire contents of our house in case we decided to put our stuff in storage and rent out our house.

I had no idea where anything was now. Dishes? Summer clothes? A can opener? A towel?

Didn’t I label the boxes? Of course I did, right on the TOP of the damn things. I had to spend days unstacking and sifting through each box to find and unpack what I would need to live here. While doing this, I saw things which had me asking myself “why in the hell did you pack this in the first place?”

This gave me the brilliant idea that I must have a yard sale. Just kill me now.

You know that took a couple of weeks of my life. Just in time for Girl week.

Girl week : Girl week is actually more like 2 weeks. Every year, my best friend comes out from California and we have ourselves a big ole fun filled, stay-cation. The last couple years my sister has joined us from Dallas.

This year we went to the yurt. We had gone there a few years ago and it was loads of fun so we decided to go back this year.

Needless to say, we all had a total blast for 2 weeks. I will let the video speak for itself.

It takes me about a week to recover from Girl week. All that fun does tire out us oldsters.

So here I am. Now I have 20 something days to get my house ready for company, get skinny (yeah right) and plan our annual summer blow out dinner party.

My husband and all my kids will start arriving the 20th of July. There you have it, my last 2 months in a nutshell. Hopefully I can get back with my regular program now. I have dearly missed you all!
